Biomedic Science Building Carlos III

Science center. Getafe. SPAIN. Contest 2018

The shape of the building arises naturally, following the geometry of the plot:
in the east – adapting to the diagonal geometry of the central park , and in the west – responding to the curved geometry of the roundabout, which becomes the West gate of the Campus.
The complex, but subtle curved surface is made by using parabolic geometries with a linear guideline – that results in very expressive and identifying movement in the environment.
The curved surface is constructed from  vertical anodized aluminum slats, which give an impression of a silver curtain, that allows light and views to be gently introduced into the building and turns the building itself into a lantern on the early nights of winter.
