Single-family Housing. Barajas, Madrid. SPAIN. Built 2013
In an old area east of Madrid we are assigned the task of reforming and expanding an old house originally from the seventies.
The project seeks a simple intervention with the attachment of two pieces of different thickness in the east and west facades. While the east facade is built with a raised body that welcomes programmatic functions to exploit the existence of a recreational swimming pool and the midday sun, on the west facade a very tight body is attached to scale the main entrance.
The new additions are built with different elements yet raw stone, glass and wood are the primary materials. The whole building is rehabilitated inside to obtain the necessary continuity within the home.
