Broc presents a very balanced relationship between natural and artificial.
The new Broc Sport Centre is located on a plot with existing sports equipment.
The feasibility studies of the base resulted into two quite logical possibilities of reordering the set, however we believe that the position closest to the Route des Marches gives a greater visibility to the building, allowing it to become a reference element for the town, and an ‘iconic’ building for the community. At the same time, its is easier located and it acts as a connecting element between the parking lot and the sports fields.
The objective, however, is to raise the set 1 meter above the existing level to prevent flooding of the Sarine, minimizing the impact on the ground. For this, a building is designed in a way that it almost ‘floats on the ground’, and that only requires a small contribution of land for the circulation area of maintenance or emergency vehicles, this operation is very simple and efficient.
